I found this company on Yelp and am now here to support all the 5 star reviews with my own. Mr. Lee and his staff were great to work with.  They were very patient with me even after I had to reschedule the start date numerous times. Mr. Lee showed up to the estimate appointment with multiple binders of work his company has done, including prep, work in process, and finished jobs. He also had copies of his licenses, insurance, and countless thank you letters from clients. Kim, the lead on our job, was fantastic! He took great notes on day 1, ordered all the correct paint, and kept me updated throughout the process.  He and his crew were very professional, extremely organized, and cleaned up every night. All their equipment and tools were neatly arranged on dropcloths, excess dust and trash was swept and bagged, and taken outside. They painted all surfaces exactly as we wanted and I couldn't be happier with the result! Highly recommend!
Comment: We bought and had installed a fiberglass front door with sidelight panels that was primed but not painted. While taking the door off to paint it got a gouge in the front panel. We painted it black on the front and it did not come out well at all. hard to evenly coat, brush strokes show, etc. We are looking for someone to repair the gouge and repaint the entire door, black on the front and white on the back. We are hoping to get this done as soon as possible so the paint has to cure before the colder weather comes. Thank you
Whether you decide to do the preparation work yourself or have a professional do it as part of your project, proper preparation makes all the difference in creating a smooth and lasting finish. Sure, it adds to your the total time and money spent on your project, but it's certainly worth doing the job right the first time. Otherwise, you'll spend additional time and money down the line on maintenance and repairs. To ensure proper preparation, follow this process before painting your home's exterior (keeping in mind that the process may vary based on exterior materials):
When you go to the home improvement store, find out how much 12 gallons of the paint you want would cost, and that will help you determine your cost. Maybe it's a low-quality paint that costs $30, in which case you're looking at about $360 for paint. If you choose high-quality paint that costs around $70, your total paint cost could be closer to $840. Professionals also recommend that you add an extra 10 or 20 percent to your total square footage, depending on the type of siding you have. Some textures require extra paint because they're rough. This is especially true with wood and stucco siding.
As you scrape, you may find that the wood has turned gray or black in some areas. Check for rot by probing these areas with a nail. Spots that are discolored but firm are simply weathered. Weathered wood doesn’t hold paint very well, so sand away the gray surface. If you find soft areas, you’ve got rot. Small, shallow soft spots can be dug out and repaired with a two-part filler such as Minwax High Performance Wood Filler. But when rot is deep and widespread, it’s best to replace the entire piece of wood.

Even though you live in your home, it’s not always easy choosing interior or exterior paint colors. In fact, for some homeowners, the wide variety of paint choices makes the process almost frustrating. No worries. Your A.L. Painting Co. interior painting professional can help you choose colors based on the mood you want to set, the amount of natural light that the room receives or the type of activity that will be going on in the room. Likewise, if your project is for exterior painting, we can help you choose a color that works with the style of the home, as well as what is appropriate for the community in which you live.

When selecting a color scheme for the home’s exterior homeowners can choose color options that will correct flaws that they may feel exist with their home and property.  Some examples include utilizing two shades of a single color to make a home appear appropriately sized when the home may be too large or too tall.  To accomplish this effect individuals will want to place the darker tone on the upper level of the home’s exterior.  Smaller windows can appear more proportionately sized by trimming them in a lighter tone of paint.  Darker colors make a space or feature appear smaller.  The same effect can be obtained for homes positioned further away from a curb.  By using lighter tones the home will not feel camouflaged.

To remove a bad piece of siding, you have to pull out two rows of nails: the ones in the bad board itself, and those in the board directly above. Siding is thin and splits easily, so the tricky part of this job is pulling nails without damaging surrounding boards. A cat’s paw is the best tool for digging out nails if damage to the surrounding wood doesn’t matter (Photo 1).
We got our estimate in a timely manner. The price was very reasonable. Rain put our job off a few weeks but you can't change mother nature. When the team arrived the temperatures were in the 90&#…039;s. The team had to do a couple 1/2 days due to that but we assured them we were in no hurry. The final results were fabulous!! Our house is older but now looks so fresh and neat. I will recommend Color World to anyone who asks Thank you so much. more »

Even if you think you'll probably do the job yourself, it's good preparation to seek estimates from professional home painters, whether your painting the exterior or interior of your home. Then you'll have a financial point of comparison and you may benefit from what a home painting contractor has to say about the condition of your home, color choices and types of paint available. Let the painter make his pitch for a professional job before you decide what to do. You can still opt to do it yourself while having learned something worthwhile.

In autumn the Portfolio Course begins. This is a full time intensive course of 16 weeks of study in the visual and creative arts from October till March, offering students the opportunity to develop work in greater depth. This course is held at An Talla Solais, Ullapool Visual Arts centre and is taught by Eleanor White, the director of Bridge House Art, artist Kittie Jones and a selection of professional visiting artists.
As any painter will tell you, prep work is just as important -- if not more important -- than the paint application itself. If the paint on your house is chipping or peeling, it needs to be scraped and sanded smooth before applying a new finish. In most cases, you won’t need to remove all the existing paint, but scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, and priming are critical steps that take place before the start of most exterior painting jobs.
